The Naval Civilian Motor Driver Exam is conducted by the Indian Navy to recruit candidates for Motor Driver (Ordinary Grade) and related posts in various naval commands across India.


1. Post Name

Motor Driver (Ordinary Grade)
(Also known as Naval Civilian Motor Driver under Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted posts)


2. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed Matriculation (10th) from a recognized board.

  • Must possess a valid driving license for Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) and Light Motor Vehicles (LMV).

  • Must have practical experience in driving for at least one year.

  • Must have knowledge of motor mechanism (should be able to remove minor defects in vehicles).

Age Limit

  • 18 to 25 years
    (Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Ex-servicemen as per government rules)

5. Trade Test (Driving Test)

Candidates who clear the written exam appear for a practical driving test to assess:

  • Driving skills for both light and heavy vehicles

  • Basic maintenance and repair knowledge

  • Obedience to traffic rules and road safety awareness


6. Salary Structure

  • Pay Level: Level 2 (Rs. 19,900 – 63,200) as per 7th CPC

  • Other allowances include:

    • Dearness Allowance (DA)

    • House Rent Allowance (HRA)

    • Transport Allowance

    • Pension and medical benefits (as per Navy norms)


7. Posting Locations

Selected candidates can be posted in:

  • Western Naval Command (Mumbai)

  • Eastern Naval Command (Visakhapatnam)

  • Southern Naval Command (Kochi)

  • And other units of the Indian Navy across India.


8. Job Role

  • Drive official Navy vehicles (jeeps, trucks, buses, etc.)
